Dr. Suresh Babu Palanisamy completed his Ph.D. in Biotechnology from Anna University, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. He serves as a Professor and Head of the Department of Bioengineering at the Institute of Biotechnology, Saveetha School of Engineering, Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences (SIMATS), Chennai, India. He completed his Masters from SASTRA University, Thanjavur & Bachelor’s degree from Anna University - BIT Campus (formerly SET, Bharathidasan University), Tiruchirappalli. Additionally, he is an Adjunct Lecturer at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, UCSI University, Malaysia, and the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Cyberjaya, Malaysia.
His main areas of research are Environmental Biotechnology, Marine Biotechnology, and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology. Dr. Suresh has 20 years of experience in teaching and research at various engineering colleges in India and abroad. He has published numerous scientific research articles in international peer-reviewed journals and authored multiple book chapters and review papers.
He received the Young Scientist Award from the University of Cagliari, Italy, for best presentation, and has earned various recognitions from different national and international organizations for his academic and scientific contributions. He served as an Executive Committee Member (honorary position) in the India Education Forum (IEF), organized by the Embassy of India, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, for three years starting in 2017. He facilitated 3 national level MoUs with Glaukos Algae Private Limited, Nellore, Greenmed Labs, Chennai and Neoscience Research Lab Private Limited, Chennai & 1 International MoU with University of Cyberjaya, Malaysia. Dr. Suresh is an associate member of many scientific societies and professional bodies including ISTE, BRSI, WAYS, ISRD, IAEng, etc.

He has been working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Biotechnology, Saveetha school for Engineering since April 2021. Before joining here, he worked as a post-doctoral fellow in China from 2014 to 2020. During his tenure, his research interest pertains to explore the role of different plant gene function related to abiotic stress tolerance. Further he studied about how the different gene expressions are regulated through epigenetic methods.
He completed his PhD at Centro De Investigaciones Biologicas, Madrid, Spain after winning the CSIC-JAE predoctoral fellowship conducted by Spanish scientific society. During his doctoral tenure, he explored how plant genes suppress viruses. Apart from academic experiences, he worked in the pharma industry for COVID19 kit and Biosimilar product development. He had qualified in GATE exam and also cleared CSIR-UGC NET exam conducted in 2005. He published his research work in many international peer-reviewed journals.

Dr. Saranya Narayanasamy is a distinguished researcher and educator, currently serving as an Assistant Professor (Senior Grade) at the Saveetha School of Engineering, SIMATS, Chennai. She received her B.Tech in Industrial Biotechnology from Anna University and M.Tech in Biotechnology from PRIST University (Gold medalist), TamilNadu, India. She received her Ph.D. from the National Institute of Technology Calicut, Kerala, India, where she conducted groundbreaking research on water pollution abatement. she has been instrumental in guiding numerous undergraduate and doctoral research projects. Her research primarily focuses on heavy metals, emerging pollutants, such as PFAS, microplastics, and pesticides, aiming to develop innovative bioremediation strategies and sustainable approaches to water pollution control.
Dr. Saranya’s impactful research has led to a substantial body of publications, including high-impact journal articles and book chapters, with a cumulative impact factor of 40 and an h-index of 11. In addition to her academic and research accomplishments, Dr. Saranya has made significant contributions as reviewer for various esteemed journals, including Science of the Total environment, Elsevier; Nature Scientific reports; Environmental pollution, Elsevier; Journal of Material Research and Technology, Elsevier; Desalination and water treatment, Taylor and Francis; Journal of Chemistry, Hindawi; International Journal of Environmental Analytical Chemistry, Taylor and Francis; Bioresource Technology Reports; Research in Ecology; Egyptian journal of petroleum Clinical and circular economy, Elsevier; Adsorption science and Technology; Energy Nexus, Elsevier. Dr,V.Priscilla Pushparani, joined the institution as an Assistant Professor (Senior Grade) in 2024. She has started her career in 2016 and gained her experience and knowledge through teaching for over 8.5 years in Biotechnology Engineering background. She was awarded Doctorate under the faculty of Technology in 2023 from Anna University, working on “Analysing the waste citrus peel for treating the CaOx urolithiasis”. She was specialized in discovering phyto-molecules for various targeting diseases. She has the interest in research for herbal medicine and medicinal chemistry.
She received post-graduation in the year 2014 from Karpaga Vinayaga College of Engineering and Technology and under graduation in the year of 2012 from Vel Tech High Tech Dr. Rangarajan and Dr.Sakunthala Engineering College. She has published 4 research papers, a review paper and few book chapters. All published works were indexed in scopus. She also worked in the funded project by Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers. She has handled more than 30 projects for under graduate students during her career. She has exposed her knowledge by presenting her research works in National and International conferences. Dr. Sambit Sarkar is an Assistant Professor and experienced researcher in biotechnology with a strong background in bioengineering. His research interests include bioenergy, bioremediation, bioprocess scale-up, downstream processing, and fermentation. Dr. Sarkar has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and contributed to several book chapters.
He previously served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at IIT Bombay, focusing on producing nutraceuticals and superfood proteins from algal processes. His work involved designing research projects, developing photobioreactors, and supervising students.
Dr. Sarkar holds a Ph.D. in Bioengineering from NIT Agartala, an MSc in Biotechnology from Vidyasagar University, and a BSc in Biochemistry from the University of Calcutta. He has received several awards, including the Best Oral Presentation Award at SVNIT's Advances in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering conference in 2021 and the Institute Post-Doctoral Fellowship from IIT Bombay. He is also a GATE Life Science qualifier and received the M.H.R.D Scholarship for his doctoral research.
